If you're staying with us in Bhoopatwala, you're closer than you think to some of Haridwar's most memorable spots. Guests often ask us the same question at check-in — what else should we see while we're here? So we put together this honest, no-fluff list of five places worth your time, all within easy reach of the dharamshala.
1. Har Ki Pauri & Ganga Aarti
This is the one everyone talks about, and honestly, it deserves the hype. Watching priests light rows of lamps and send them floating down the Ganges while the entire ghat chants together is unlike anything else in the city. It's about 1.5 km from us — a quick auto ride — and we'd suggest going in the evening, arriving 30-40 minutes early to get a decent spot.
2. Mansa Devi Temple
Perched on Bilwa Parvat hill, this temple is dedicated to Mansa Devi, believed to fulfil the wishes of devotees who tie a sacred thread on the wish-fulfilling tree here. You can either take the cable car (a fun ride in itself, with views over the whole city) or trek up if you're up for it. It's around 4-5 km from the dharamshala, roughly a 15-minute drive. Go early morning to avoid both the heat and the queues.
3. Chandi Devi Temple
Sitting atop the Neel Parvat hill on the other side of the river, Chandi Devi is quieter than Mansa Devi but just as striking, especially for the views of Haridwar and the Ganga below. There's a ropeway here too, or you can hike up through the forest if you don't mind a bit of a workout. It's a little further out — plan for about 25-30 minutes from the dharamshala — so it works best as a half-day trip combined with a visit to Har Ki Pauri on the way back.
4. Rajaji National Park
If your trip has a day to spare, Rajaji National Park is worth the detour. It's one of the few places in India where you have a genuine shot at spotting wild elephants, and tigers if you're lucky, along with deer, leopards and over 300 bird species. The Chilla range is the most accessible from our side of Haridwar, about 30-40 minutes away. Safaris need to be booked in advance, so it's worth planning this one a day or two ahead rather than deciding on a whim.
5. Local Bazaars Near Har Ki Pauri
Once you're done with temples and ghats, the lanes around Har Ki Pauri are worth a slow wander. This is where you'll find brass idols, rudraksha malas, prasad shops, and some genuinely good street food — kachori-sabzi, aloo puri, and the classic Haridwar-style chaat. It's less a tourist attraction and more a chance to see everyday Haridwar going about its business, which guests often tell us was their favourite part of the trip.
Planning Your Stay
All five of these are easily manageable if you're based with us in Bhoopatwala — most guests cover two or three in a single day without feeling rushed. Ask our front desk for the latest safari booking details or Aarti timings when you check in; we keep this updated so you don't have to spend your trip figuring it out yourself.
